Gravity casting

Casting is the basic technique of zui in the metalworking industry. As early as prehistoric times, people knew how to use copper to make weapons and other utensils. It heats the metal to a molten state and pours it into a mold to cool it into shape. The so-called "gravity casting" is the process of gravity that causes liquid aluminum to fill the mold. Although this production process is cheap and simple, it is difficult to guarantee the consistency of the inner ring, easy to produce bubbles, and its strength and yield are relatively low. Now the technology has been phased out.

Low pressure casting

Low-pressure casting is a casting method which USES gas pressure to push liquid metal into the mold and solidify the casting under certain pressure. This method allows the liquid metal to fill the mold quickly, and since the pressure is not too strong, the metal density can be increased without being sucked into the air. Compared with gravity casting, the internal structure of low-pressure casting wheel hub is more compact and stronger. Low pressure casting has high production efficiency, high product qualification rate, good casting mechanical properties and high utilization rate of aluminum liquid, suitable for mass production. This process is used in most of the low - and mid - end casting wheel hubs.

The spin casting

Spinning casting is a bit like drawing in a ceramic process. It is based on gravity casting or low-pressure casting, and gradually elongates and thins the rim through the whirling of the aluminum fetus itself and the extrusion and drawing of the whirling knife. One-piece forging

Forging is a method of machining a metal blank with a certain mechanical property, a certain shape and a certain size by applying pressure on it with forging press. The forged aluminum embryos have a denser internal structure, and the forging process can better heat treatment of the metal, so that it can obtain better thermal properties. Since the forging process can only process a whole metal embryo, and cannot form a special shape, the aluminum embryo still needs the complex cutting and grinding process after the forging process, and its cost is much higher than the casting process.

Multichip forging

All-in-one forging requires cutting a lot of extra dimensions, and its processing time and cost are relatively high. In order to obtain the same mechanical properties as the one-piece forged wheel hub and reduce the processing time and cost, some automobile wheel hub brands adopt the processing method of multi-slice forging. There are two or three pieces of the multi-plate forged wheel hub. The former is composed of spokes and rims, while the latter is composed of front, back and spokes. Because of the joint problem, the three-disc wheel hub is sealed after assembly to ensure air tightness. At present, there are mainly two ways to connect the hub and rim of multi-plate forged wheel: one is special bolt/nut connection. The other is welding. Although the cost of multi-plate forged wheel hub is lower than that of one-piece forged wheel hub, it is inferior in terms of lightweight.

Squeeze casting

Forging technology is easy to process complicated parts, forging technology makes parts have better mechanical properties, and extrusion casting is to combine the advantages of both. The process involves pouring liquid metal into an open container, then pressing it into the mold with a high pressure punch to fill, shape and cool it. This machining method effectively ensures the density inside the wheel hub, the mechanical performance is close to the one-piece forged wheel hub, and there is not much spare material needed for cutting. At present, a considerable part of wheel hubs in Japan have adopted this processing method. Due to the high degree of intellectualization, many enterprises take squeeze casting as one of the production directions of automobile wheel hubs.
